fire element

The front of my gas grill is on fire.

Edit: 20:15 pm
It seems the valves behind the knobs were loose (and leaking gas) and when the grill was on full heat the flames spread to the front of the grill. Scorched the finish. Tightened up now and working fine with only a bit of cosmetic damage. The steak survived.

new furnace

emptiness
I've made a commitment. My old 60% efficient furnace is clanking and wheezing away. In the last basement deluge, the high humidity caused a bunch of corrosion on the unit. After almost 2 months of due diligence, I have decided to get a new high efficiency furnace, AC, and air filtration system. I've been saving for 7 years in the "house fund" which is separate from my emergency fund. I feel both relieved and anxious about spending the money.

AC:

Filtration:

Programmable Thermostat:

I still need to get a clean copy of the contract with all the modifications and specifications. Installation on December 8.

how plans change for Soul Day

emptiness
What an alignment! The vernal equinox, a full moon, and Soul Day.

I was going to spend a quiet weekend reflecting on my life during this Soul weekend but I am now entertaining my parental units and hosting Brother T and K on Saturday night. I haven't seen the units since January 1 in VA. They haven't seen the house/garden in 1.5 years. It'll be nice to get together and play games, eat, drink, and be merry. Momster is bringing a ham! She was trying to bring the whole meal but I put my foot down. No reason for her to cook and carry. I've looked around the house and made a big list of things to fix or clean up now that I am having guests. I only have 6-7 hours tomorrow to get things done so it'll be a squeeze. An interesting phenomenon to suddenly be aware of things that are not right in the house only when guests arrive.
