emptiness
Fast food tastes bad to me. I just can't eat it even when I'm on the road. This is a new HIGH! I've really been upping my veggie intake and not worrying about counting calories or losing weight or stressing about my food choices. It's a different attitude. I go home and eat. I've cut out soda (even the occasional diet soda), alcohol (except the occasional wine/beer), fast food, deli meats, and cut down significantly on bread and pasta. Screw weight watchers and jenny craig. I may go out with friends once or twice a month but I eat a salad first and I've really slowed down my consumption of alcohol by choosing darker beers with complex flavors to savor. I go to the gym 3 times a week sometimes more. When I don't get to the gym, I do a bunch of ab crunches (125) throughout the evening. I have my morning meditation and yoga practice. I hike on the weekends. I work in the garden. Screw manufactured shame and guilt. I am free! With freedom comes personal responsibility - imposed from within. I am strong!

Way. To. Go.
That is so totally awesome! Retraining your body and your tastebuds in particular isn't easy. This is a great step, though. Fast food is just ALL KINDS of bad for us on so very many levels. This is truly a wonderful accomplishment!

Congratulations!

Re: Way. To. Go.
I stopped for a burger on the road last weekend and I couldn't get beyond the first bite. I'll just have to pack my basket with veggies, fruits and other good snacks.

That's great!.. For on the road: I picked up a copy of the book, Healthy Highways: The traveler's guide to healthy eating. It has listings by state, with places to get good healthy food, and directions to these places from the highways.. it's great for on the road!.. (though I make sure I call ahead to check that places are still open.. a little bit of the information is out of date)

Thanks for the tip! With some planning, when I am driving, I'll pack my basket with veggies, fruits and other good snacks. With flying and eating in resturants, I'll check out the recommended book! Muchos Gracias.
